Gargantuan Colourpop Haul and First Impressions (Kathleen Lights Zodiac Collection, No Filter Foundation + More!)

Whenever I’m asked what my favourite makeup brand is, I really struggle to answer. I’ve tried quite a bit of makeup and my favourite is constantly changing.

The second I tried Colourpop’s Yes Please palette back in January, I was willing to say that the brand was my all time favourite, but since I had tried only a few products, I figured that statement may have been just a little bit too bold.

What I will say, is that Colourpop does things that so many brands either can’t, or can’t be bothered to do; make INCREDIBLE quality products that cost less than a meal at McDonald’s.

In my endeavour to figure out whether the statement is correct, I decided to delve into a few of the formulas that I had yet to try, and give you my first impressions.

Kathleen Lights x Colourpop Zodiac Collection

kathleen lights x colourpop

I basically stan Kathleen’s Dream Team lip trio and her immaculate taste when it comes to makeup, so the MOMENT rumours started circulating about this collection, I was READY.

Even though I don’t necessarily ‘believe’ in it, I also find the science of astrology SUPER interesting and have hardcore analysed the astrological birth charts of my entire family and all of my friends; so when I saw that it was zodiac themed, I was SHOOK.

Firstly… this packaging is quite possibly the prettiest thing I have ever seen. Foiled rose gold? I mean… come on!!!

The Zodiac Palette ($18 USD)

the zodiac palette

The Zodiac palette is everything I have ever dreamed of and more.

The colours are STUNNING, go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong, and are PERFECTLY symbolic of all the signs.

It’s $2 more expensive than most Colourpop palettes due to the inclusion of the mirror, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay, because I believe that the more reflective surfaces I have access to, the better.

I then went through and swatched all of the shades (as you can see) and as usual, was blown away by the insane pigmentation and buttery feel of each and every colour.

The Aries: Hot orange with orange and gold shimmer

The Taurus: Warm matte brown

The Gemini: Foiled olive-toned gold

The Cancer: Neutral champagne/pink shimmer

The Leo: Warm duo-chrome orange/gold

The Virgo: Cool matte brown

The Libra: Washed rose with tiny flecks of shimmer (almost matte)

The Scorpio: Warm mulberry shimmer

The Sagittarius: Warm matte purple

The Capricorn: Matte black packed with gold glitter

The Aquarius: Matte cobalt blue

The Pisces: MAGICAL FOILED GLITTERY blue/teal

This definitely isn’t a colour scheme for the faint hearted, but I feel like it will very quickly become a staple in my makeup collection.

Supernova Shadows in ‘Astrology’ and ‘Constellation’ ($7 USD each)

supernova

I have never used a liquid eyeshadow on myself before as I feel they’re quite intimidating, but these made me rather intrigued to give them a try.

Liquid shadows are basically the best way to get that super metallic, high-shine ‘wet’ look, without having to wet your brushes or mix regular eyeshadow with anything.

Even though I don’t have a frame of reference, I was very impressed with the formula of these. They were SO intense that I could not find a way to get the shine to show up on camera, but trust me; these things are so shiny that Tamatoa from Moana would instantly scurry from the deepest depths of the ocean and violently pry them from your hands.

Astrology: Cool Goldish Green

Constellation: Neutral champagne/rose gold

Super Shock Highlighters in ‘On the Cusp’ and ‘Fire’ ($8 USD each)

super shock cheek

Speaking of shiny, Colourpop’s ‘Super Shock’ range are some of the most strange, yet amazing powder products known to man.

I’ve tried (and loved) the super shock eyeshadow formula before, but this was the first time that I’ve had the joy of using the highlighter version (and trust me, I felt unworthy).

Super Shock highlighters are powder, but they feel like a very bizarre cream.

While the formula is kind of impossible to explain, what I can tell you is how amazing they look on the skin. Highlighters can be hit or miss for me, as I’m not a fan of my cheeks being completely blinding, but I also do like a ‘natural kapow’ moment.

These look WET on your skin. They don’t look like glitter, they look like proper radiance- and THAT is how you do it.

At first I thought that both shades were going to be a little too dark for my skin, but upon application I am pretty confident that both will work for most skin tones.

On the Cusp: Neutral champagne

Fire: Burnt, warm champagne

Crème Lux Lipsticks in ‘What’s Your Sign?’ and ‘Scorpio Moon’ ($7 USD each)

lux lipsticks

Once again, the Lux Lipstick formula is one that I had never tried before, and now that I have, I can’t believe I hadn’t.

Everything from the packaging, to the colours, to the formula had me SHOOK. Just as the name suggests, they feel super luxurious and hecca expensive; to the point that if you handed one to me and said that it was $50 I probably wouldn’t question it.

I have yet to wear these (I’ll be sure to update you when I do), but I am VERY excited for the days that I do.

Scorpio Moon: Deep/bright mauve (think MAC ‘Soar’ with more purple)

What’s Your Sign: Neutral/warm nude (think MAC ‘Yash’ with a dash of peach)

Kathleen Lights x Colourpop Dream St. Palette ($16 USD)

dream st

Since I LOVED the Dream Team lip trio so much, I figured it was only right to pick up the matching palette- not to mention, the colours in this will go GREAT with the zodiac palette as well.

As usual, the formula did not disappoint, and I can easily envision at least 10 looks with this.

dream st swatches

Shooting Star: Light warm brown matte

Magical: Pale peach matte

Star Dust: Burnt copper shimmer

Twinkle: Foiled neutral bronze

Sweet Dreams: Warm foiled pink with gold shift

Water Bearer: Deep teal matte

Potion: Deep terracotta matte

Spark: Warm strawberry/pink matte

Kaleidoscope: Foiled silver with green/purple duochrome shift

Elfish: Deep warm brown matte

Moony: Pale pink/peach shimmer

Mermaid Boy: Foiled blackened teal

No Filter Natural Matte Foundation ($12 USD) and No Filter Matte Concealer ($6 USD)

no filter

Last but certainly not least, I also picked up the brand new No Filter Foundation, and the cult classic No Filter Concealer.

I have yet to try these, but if you’d like to see my first impressions, I will be doing a full wear test over on my Instagram story within the next few days, so stay tuned for that!

For reference, my best matching foundation colour is MAC NC20, and I chose the shade ‘Light 45’ in the foundation, and ‘Fair 04’ in the concealer (to highlight) and they seem to be the perfect match.

Until next time, 😉
