A Very Lush Christmas

Ever since I discovered YouTube and blogging back in 2010, I’ve been obsessed with the incredibly lavish videos and blog posts that are uploaded in the Christmas period. So as you can imagine, when I started my very own blog, there was no second thought as to whether or not I would participate in such festivities- and thus, Blogmas was born.

I have some CRAZY posts ready for you all, and I hope you’re just as excited as I am. You definitely won’t want to miss them, so make sure you’re following this blog. No WordPress account? Have no fear, as there is a handy email subscription at the bottom of the page just for you.

Anyone who knows me will know that I take pamper sessions and relaxing very seriously, so naturally I’m a huge fan of Lush. All of their products are incredible, being made with natural ingredients which safely and effectively nourish and treat the skin, having amazingly indulgent scents, and look gorgeous in a wicker basket to boot. But the company is not just a pretty face.

Lush stands for so many things that I am all for. They proudly fight animal testing, promote sustainable living, self love and acceptance of all people, regardless of social, national, political, religious, and cultural boundaries. And it’s for this reason that I will continue to support them for as long as I am able.

The Lush Christmas range is something I’ve been waiting for all year. The products that come around are some of my all time favourites and really help to get me into the festive spirit.

To top it all off, Lush understands that we all have different tastes. Personally, living in Australia makes Christmas scents a little difficult. Usually on super hot days, the last thing I want to do is have a bath and if I do, I definitely don’t want to be smelling super spicy Christmas scents as they make my stomach churn in the heat. This is why the sweet delights of candy mountain and snow fairy fill my shopping basket each and every year- but I do love Cinders!

Bubble Bars

candy-mountain

Candy Mountain ($7.95 AUD)

LUSH: Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or moving your lawn. Crumble this swirled pink mountain! The wonderful sweetness of vanilla absolute is packed into this peak. Break it up under running water and embrace glistening ridges of bubbles and comforting creamy candy mist.

I was going to build up to this one, but I figured there was no point and I may as well address the elephant in the room.

Candy Mountain is by no stretch of the imagination, the best product Lush offers (for me at least). So much so that last year I stocked up and timed it perfectly so that I didn’t run out until now.

The “sugar sweet summits” of candy mountain are comforting, uplifting, and ultra fun this time of year. Crumbling a chunk of this under running water produces the most fluffy, luxurious bubbles, an incredible sugar sweet scent which lingers on the skin for hours, and tiny flecks of shimmer which give off a healthy glow when you finally admit defeat and get out of the tub.

peeping-santa

Peeping Santa ($10.95 AUD)

LUSH: Santa may use his dairy-free chocolate eyes to see who’s been naughty or nice come Christmas, but, at this time of year, he also looks out for the perfect batch of hand-churned shea butter. Nipping over to Ghana, he visits the Ojoba women’s cooperative, who crack and churn the shea pods into a rich, chocolatey butter. Blended with Fair Trade, organic cocoa butter, this indulgent combination is sandwiched between fragrant bergamot and geranium oils. Crumble under running water for sack loads of fruity bubbles.

This bubble bar is a favourite of many and one that somehow, I have never tried before. Shock horror, I know.

This is one of those multi purpose bubble bars which enrich the water with a red, fruity sweet fragrance, rich bubbles and a hydrating treat for the skin.

What I can say is that Santa smells unbelievable- essentially a classic Christmas fragrance minus the spice. He’s also vegan which is amazing!

magic-wand

Magic Wand ($10.95 AUD)

LUSH: Wave a magic wand over bath time. Snow fairies of all ages will love swishing this candy sweet magic wand around the bath to turn the water pink and create clouds of candy floss bubbles. Save some for next time (and even the time after) by popping your reusable wand on the side to dry out. Don’t forget to make a wish!

Ahhh good old magic wand…

Enriched with the cult favourite snow fairy scent, this bubble bar is teeth achingly sweet- if you don’t have a sweet tooth, step away from the wand! The scent is cool and sugary, but somehow warm and comforting all at the same time- I can definitely understand why people come flocking to Lush stores for this one.

It’s also incredibly cute and definitely brings out my inner child… I mean… look at it! It’s a fairy wand!!! With a bell!!!

Once again the wand is vegan so all can enjoy.

snowie

Snowie ($8.95 AUD)

LUSH: This hazy cosmic jive of bright, tangy grapefruit and neroli will take you far away from it all. Don’t blow it; simply crumble under running water. In a flash, glam sparkle and oodles of bubbles will burst out to make you feel like one of the world’s biggest stars. The exquisite fragrance of rose oil provides delicate, floral sophistication, freezing the troubles of the outside world. Let your body boogie.

As the name and blurb suggest, Snowie is a product for those that love a good night out.

The scent is fresh and floral with some sweet undertones to lift the spirits ready for a Christmas party or special event. It’s packed with shimmer too which means it will give you an amazing glow in flash photography which is always appreciated.

New to the Christmas lineup and vegan, it’s definitely one to try out if you want something not stereotypically Christmas-fied.

Bath Bombs

golden-wonder

Golden Wonder ($8.95)

LUSH: Happiness is a gift and the trick is not to expect it, but to delight in it when it comes in all its exquisite, sweet orange and lime oil glory. Dickens might not have been on about the surprise parcel of lustre and cognac oil that’s ready to unfurl and create bathtime splendour, but he’d have been just as thrilled by it.

This is one of the Christmas products that I feel both of us in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres can enjoy. It’s got that zesty Christmas kick which is great for a wintery white Christmas, or a night after a Summer bbq Down Under.

It is actually gigantic and despite it’s golden outer, it’s filled with magical blue goodness and a starry confetti surprise, providing a great life lesson: don’t judge a present by it’s wrapping ladies and gents.

father-christmas

Father Christmas ($7.95)

LUSH: Before making this, Father Christmas must have stopped at a sweet shop for stocking fillers because it smells like freshly spun candy floss. Soak away the hours in sweet, mouthwatering waters as the blushing red of Santa’s cheeks fizz away to reveal a vivid, holly-green centre.

This is by far the most jolly of all the Lush products. It has a scent that is quite similar to Candy Mountain, but it’s a little more simple and stripped back, smelling like sugary toasted marshmallows.

I have yet to experience this, but the centre of this one is filled with a bright, festive green and is basically the prettiest swirl of colour you shall ever lay your eyes on this season. Once again he’s vegan and would be perfect for anybody, regardless of climate.

Bath Melt

snow-angel

Snow Angel ($9.95 AUD)

LUSH: Dissolving into a flurry of snow, blanket your bath in white foam before revealing a shimmering golden glow. Rich in moisturising Fair Trade cocoa butter, with a delicate marzipan scent, and oodles of rose, benzoin and cassie absolute to treat winter skin to a softening, floral soak.

Snow angel is that product that is so often overlooked and I have absolutely no clue as to why. It’s the one that not many people get excited for, but will always always always buy each and every year, for good reason.

My product number 2 from Lush, this is potentially the most hydrating and soothing bath product I have ever used. It’s absolutely packed with cocoa butter, and gives the skin a beautiful, smooth looking and feeling finish. This is even greater, for it allows the incredible golden glow provided by the shimmer to sit wonderfully on the skin and create the ultimate glamour for a Christmas party or even Christmas day.

Whether you’re going to a special event this year or just want to treat your skin, pick up a snow angel. She is worth every penny.
